Procino Wells adopts nursing home resident for Christmas
In lieu of exchanging gifts with each other for Christmas, the staff of Procino Wells decided to adopt a nursing home resident for Christmas. The office obtained the name of a resident from social services, who otherwise had no family to celebrate Christmas with. Staff purchased a few gifts and took them to the resident just prior to Christmas, and spent time with the resident while opening gifts and talking about past Christmas memories.

Michele Procino-Wells and Amber Woodland attend "Planning for the Generations 2012" in Denver, Colorado
Both Michele and Amber attended the 2012 Planning for the Generations Symposium in Denver July 18-20, 2012. The Planning for the Generations Symposium was sponsored by the leaders in the industry - WealthCounsel, The Advisors Forum and ElderCounsel - three organizations comprised of nearly 3,500 practitioners committed to an interdisciplinary approach to client-centered planning. This conference provided a unique opportunity for Michele and Amber to learn from national experts, develop meaningful relationships with colleagues, and discover new ways to expand the practice in the areas of Essentials Planning, Advanced Planning, Elder Law Planning, and Business Planning.

Along with Michele and Amber, more than 400 anxious patrons attended "From The Heart. For The Heart.", a luncheon held on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Dover Downs Hotel and Casino in Dover, Delaware. The event, featuring former First Lady, Laura Bush, was on a mission of increasing awareness of heart disease in women.

Former First Lady Laura Bush is an advocate for women's health and has been an active participant in campaigns to raise awareness of breast and cervical cancer, and heart disease, both in the U.S. and around the world. She partnered with the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute in The Heart Truth® campaign and The Red Dress project. Her memoir, Spoken From the Heart, is a New York Times #1 best seller.

Procino Wells, LLC "Silver Record" sponsor at NHS Dinner Auction

Michele Procino-Wells and Amber Woodland attended the Nanticoke Health Services Dinner and Auction "American Bandstand, Celebrating Decades of Music". They were rocking out to tunes of past decades at Heritage Shores in Bridgeville on Saturday, April 21, 2012, where Procino Wells, LLC was a "Silver Record" sponsor of the event.

During the evening, guests had the opportunity to bid on items in the live and silent auctions, followed by an evening of dancing. Proceeds from the American Bandstand, Celebrating Decades of Music will benefit Nanticoke's Cardiac Catheterization Lab.

Amber Woodland Joins NAELA
The National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Inc. (NAELA) is a professional association of over 4,200 attorneys who are dedicated to improving the quality of legal services provided to seniors and people with special needs. NAELA members assist their clients with public benefits, probate and estate planning, guardianship/conservatorship, and health and long-term care planning, among other important issues.

Both Amber Woodland and Michele Procino-Wells are now members of NAELA. This resource will be very helpful in assisting clients with Elder Law issues.

National Care Planning Council is the most comprehensive resource for Eldercare (Senior Care) and Long Term Care Planning anywhere. Their website (www.longtermcarelink.net) provides articles and reference books to help learn about long term care planning. The site also lists providers and services by category to help with your eldercare needs. The National Care Planning Council and its affiliated members are dedicated to helping families recognize the need for long term care planning and to helping implement that planning. Integrity, honesty, and a genuine concern for those who are in need of (or may need) long term care are at the heart of NCPC services.

Procino Wells, LLC participates in Heritage Shores Wellness Fair

Michele Procino-Wells and Heather Taylor participated in the Heritage Shores Wellness Fair held February 15th. Heritage Shores is a 55+ community that is located in Bridgeville, Delaware. The goal of the Wellness Fair is to educate homeowners on what services are available in the Delaware area that promote a healthy life style, and provide information on local services and organizations that promote the same concept.

Many Heritage Shores homeowners are not local to Delaware. Procino Wells offered information about Elder Law and Estate Planning in Delaware, and having your affairs in order after relocating from another state. Legal services tie in to Wellness knowing that homeowners may enjoy retirement without worry in the event of a life changing event.

Amber Woodland Receives VA Accreditation

Amber Woodland recently received accreditation from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

The United States has the most comprehensive system of assistance for veterans of any nation in the world. The mission of the VA is to fulfill President Lincoln's promise: "To care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan" by serving and honoring the men and women who are America's veterans."

There are approximately 24 million veterans alive today, and three quarters of them served during a time when the United States was at war or during an official conflict period.

One fourth of the U.S. population - approximately 63 million citizens - are potentially eligible for VA benefits and services because they are: a veteran; a dependent of a veteran; parents of a veteran; or the surviving spouse of a veteran.

Kirsten Briggs visits Cape Henlopen High School
Kirsten visited Cape Henlopen High School on Friday, January 27th to speak to the students about resume preparation, interviewing and on-the- job performance.

Kirsten addressed the three scheduled Home Economics classes separately and discussed with them keys to preparing a simple, but clear and effective resume, tips for interview preparedness and conduct, as well as proper attitudes and etiquette, once a job has been obtained.

Kirsten has a passion for investing in the upcoming generations and found each class to be a fun to work with, each in their own unique way!

Bill Purnell, Esq. presented on the civil union laws that will go into effect in Delaware in January 2012. Specifically, he discussed the effect these news laws will have on estate planning and administration.

Michele Procino-Wells recently attended the Medicaid Immersion Camp sponsored by ElderCounsel in Orlando, Florida. It is a one-of-a-kind members-only program designed to delve deeper into the Medicaid rules and the applicable planning strategies.

Among other things, Michele attended sessions entitled "Countable Assets, Penalties and Exempt Transfers;" "Crisis Planning vs. Proactive Planning;" and "Medicaid Asset Protection Trust Case Design."

The information provided at this Camp is truly invaluable and has provided Michele with the tools needed to enhance this ever growing area of her practice.

Kirsten Joins the Board of the Seaford Community Swim Center
Kirsten Briggs recently joined the Board of the Seaford Community Swim Center. She will be serving as the secretary.

SCSC is a family oriented Swim Center located adjacent to Hooper's Landing Golf Course and the Nanticoke Senior Center. The Seaford Community Swim Center provides the residents of Seaford with and exceptional opportunity to "take a break from it all" and soak up the summer's sun by the pool. In 2010, the facility was purchased by the City of Seaford and is managed on a day-to-day basis by the Board of the Seaford Community Swim Center. Memberships are open to all.

Nanticoke Memorial Hospital 25th Anniversary Dinner & Auction

On Saturday, April 9, 2011, Michele Procino-Wells and Amber Woodland attended the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital Anniversary Dinner and Auction.

Proceeds from the "Red Carpet Affair" will benefit Nanticoke's Cardiac Catheterization Lab. The Cardiac Catheterization Lab combines the most advanced technology with an experienced team of physicians, nurses, and technicians who are on call 24/7. Every day physicians perform lifesaving procedures to clear blockages and enhance heart health care. Nanticoke has reached a point where it needs to expand its facilities. The expansion of the cardiac catheterization lab will help ease possible delays emergent cases cause and will once again raise the bar for the services Nanticoke provides in our community. Time is the leading factor in reducing death due to heart attack and stroke. When minutes count, you can count on Nanticoke.

Cinderella's Closet is a project designed to build self-esteem and confidence in high school girls by providing them with evening gowns for formal events, such as prom, at an extremely low cost.

Michele Procino-Wells Presented the Founders Award at Nanticoke's Tributes for Healthcare Leadership Dinner

Michele, the newest member of the Nanticoke Board of Directors and an eight-year member of Soropotimist International of Seaford, presented the Founders Award to Nancy Hickman, the current president of the Soroptimist Club. Michele mentioned in her presentation that in its sixty-year history, Soroptimist of Seaford has given $1.2 million to local community causes -- $100,000 of that has gone to Nanticoke Health Services.
